Tom Shields
Optimal Vision Coach –“the Optimalogist”
“You can’t do better than your best, but your best can get better.”
Thomas has been a professional coach since 1994. He works with doctors, financial advisors, accomplished amateur and professional athletes, business executives, managers, entrepreneurs, sales professionals and students. The majority of these individuals have a desire to be in the top 10% of their industry or profession, while also leading healthy, balanced lives. He excels in assisting people who have a Vision they desire to create, but are having a hard time overcoming the mental and emotional blocks that prevent them from performing at their best and achieving their personal and professional goals.
Thomas's ultimate purpose is to train and coach you in learning how to learn to think more effectively, strengthening who you are as a person, and improving the overall quality of your life. His greatest gifts are his ability to listen, think creatively, and assist others to move through mental and emotional challenges. With Thomas’s coaching, you can expect to achieve optimal performance, balance and fulfillment both professionally and personally.
Some of the areas Thomas has coached, trained, and consulted on include: business development and strategic thinking, improving performance and productivity, communicating more effectively, career development and transition, work-life balance, health and fitness challenges, and personal growth.
Thomas’s formal education includes: a Master's degree in Educational Psychology, Bachelor's degree in Business Management, and an Associates degree in Marketing. His extensive training includes: Certified Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming, Ericksonian Hypnosis and Cognitive Coaching. He also completed training with Coach University, and was a Personal Success Coach with Nightingale-Conant Corporation.
In 1990, Thomas overcame a near fatal heart aneurysm and life-long visual impairment to be able to see 20/20 for the first time in his life. From these experiences he gained a new perspective on life and a desire to know how to help others to change without having to go through such traumatic events. As a result, Thomas has learned how to lead with his heart and that inner vision is far more important than eyesight. He is currently working on his forthcoming book called Refocus Your Life: How to See Yourself in a New Light to Experience and Create Your Optimal Vision.
Thomas's personal transformation, professional experience, and extensive education and training, allow him to understand his client's challenges at a much deeper level, so that he can assist clients in achieving long-lasting results. His personal style is geared towards training his clients to train and coach themselves, so they can maintain peak performance well beyond the coaching and training sessions.
